The depth of technological expertise within Croydon will be underscored tonight at the borough’s Tech Forum event.
The forum will bring together technology leads and experts from digitally-focused local companies – including PCSG’s Olly Thomas – to share insights and knowledge and to showcase their services.
The event forms part of a wider programme of work by the borough to promote its cluster of technology companies and co-working spaces and to position itself as a technology hub – the Silicon Valley of South London.
It is also keen to underline its commitment to harnessing technology to improve the quality of its service provision to residents.
Olly, PCSG’s Business Development Director, will join an expert panel to discuss How to Pave the Path to Digital Transformation.
In common with a growing number of councils, Croydon – London’s largest borough by population with more than 340,000 residents – has identified digital delivery as a key enabler to improving its service provision and to meeting the challenges of tightened budgets.
Earlier this year, it appointed a Chief Digital Officer, Neil Williams, to lead on the design and delivery of the council’s digital services.
Neil, who formerly led the Gov.uk team of 140+ as Deputy Director of the Government Digital Service (GDS), will also ensure that its internal IT function is cost-effective and efficient and head-up work on Smart Cities and the harnessing of data and technology to support the growth of the borough’s thriving technology sector.
Neil, who will address tonight’s event, has pledged to ‘build on the great foundations’ that saw Croydon named 2017’s Digital Council of the Year.
The forum, which will feature tech demonstrations and include time for networking, is a Croydon Good Employer event.
PCSG was recently accredited as a Croydon Good Employer having demonstrated our alignment with key criteria around fair pay, workplace equality and diversity and employee wellbeing.
The event will take place on Tue, 4 Dec, 5.30 to 8.30.
