M1 Motorway Widening Scheme

Mobilisation

PCSG supported the winning bid for a £341m motorway widening scheme and went on to deliver a successful two-year mobilisation and delivery strategy for a major joint venture.

PCSG supported the Morgan Sindall, Vinci and Sir Robert McAlpine (MVM) joint venture in their winning bid for the £341m M1 J25 – 28 motorway widening scheme.
The Highways Agency awarded the collaborative contract, which included early contractor involvement based solely on the quality submission score.

PCSG provided support in bid strategy, team facilitation, document production, reviewing and final editing. The quality submission received the highest score ever awarded by the Highways Agency for such a bid.

PCSG also went on to support the mobilisation and delivery of this contract.
Facilitating the Target Cost agreement process, which for the first time was agreed below the projected scheme budget, and helping the consortium to shape the delivery team, PCSG worked in both the JV head office and on site.
Behavioural development and team building was also focused on to ensure a ‘one team’ culture was fostered throughout the project.

Working on project delivery for two years on the M1 project, PCSG provided management reporting, internal and external communication support and teamwork development.
This aided the overall delivery of the works, which finished seven months early and within the Target Cost.
