PCSG’s work is featured on the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) blog this month.
Our article, from our Major Projects Director, Rennie Chadwick, explains why data is a vital ‘tool’ for those delivering today’s major infrastructure projects.
It highlights our work with HS2 – the era-defining railway – helping it to develop a data ‘hub’ which connects up the vast volume of project and asset data being managed and procured. The cloud-based ‘integration and visualization’ platform is enabling the construction teams and others who need it to instantly access and interrogate data about the railway – everything from health and safety and environmental information to BIM data.
The data is used to support key business decisions and processes including design reviews and co-ordination, interface management and progressive assurance. Ultimately, it will become a ‘digital twin’ of the entire HS2 rail system.
Our work with Highways England is also referenced in the article. The data integration platform or Business Information Framework (BIF) developed b y PCSG will be used to analyse data, provide benchmarks, identify trends, provide early warnings and to support high value decision-making on the Smart Motorway Programme.
